Experience the Game of Go
An ancient board game of strategy
The name Go (囲碁) is a short form of the Japanese word igo, a board game of capturing territory. It dates back 2,500 years, making it the oldest known board game consistently played in the world. Although it is a simple game in some ways, the strategic opportunities are nearly endless, allowing more move combinations than there are atoms in the observable universe.
Who can attend?
All ages and skills-levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. We ask that attendees book in advance if possible so that we can provide enough seating.
First-time player?
The first 30 minutes will be designated to getting beginners started, including a volunteer personal guide. This personal guide will walk you through the rules of the game and get you started on your first strategic moves. To be fair to our volunteers, please book in advance, indicate that you are a first time player, and arrive at the very start of the event.
